Assistant manager Chris Lucketti has hailed the spirit of the players after they dug deep to beat Dagenham and Redbridge today.
David Ball grabbed the only goal of the game in the 74th minute and speaking to Sky Sports following the game, Lucketti said the players had to really battle to earn those three points and everyone should be proud of their efforts as we again recorded back to back victories following the win over Accrington Stanley.
‘It was a performance full of desire and spirit. We had to fight tooth and nail second half, but over the 90 minutes we were the better side, we just had to keep it going.’
Lucketti said all that we were missing really in the game was the end product and thankfully we managed to get that, and then hold out for the narrow victory.
The controversial moment of the game came when their striker Rhys Murphy appeared to have got the ball over the line, prior to it being hacked away by skipper Mark Roberts and whilst the Dagenham manager Wayne Burnett remains bemused that the officials didn’t grant them the equaliser, Lucketti chose instead to focus on the efforts of Roberts the clear the ball, saying it epitomised what the whole team gave on the day.
Whether it should or shouldn’t have been given, can be decided with highlights, suffice to say sometimes you need a bit of luck in football and we may have got a slice of it there, but as ever slow mo replay will clear that up.

What a great clearance it was, clearly wasn’t over the line 😉 It’s a good win, might have been better but it’s three points and that’s the main thing.
Three points and maybe some luck is all you can ask for 🙂 We’ve had enough go against us this season especially with injuries of strikers in form!
You take wha you can get don’t you.
