Fleetwood made it three wins in a row, with another cleansheet also kept, when Hartlepool were beat 2-0 at Highbury on Saturday afternoon with Alex Marrow having a ‘second debut’ to remember.

The Cod Army got off to a dream start, if you could call it that at Hartlepool’s expense with Jordan Richards sent off with just three-minutes played. A rash tackle earned the defender a straight red card and left the visitors playing virtually the entire match with 10-men.

Hartlepool couldn’t be broke down before the break though, the closest we came being a shot from Charlie Taylor deflecting off David Ball but not into the goal.

Steven Schumacher almost changed that within minutes of the second half starting, the pressure was on from the off in the second half but his effort was cleared off the line.

The 10-men had goalkeeper Scott Flinders to thank with him making a brilliant save to prevent Jon Parkin putting the Cod Army ahead but it was eventually Parkin that did make the breakthrough.

If it was thought that would be enough to win the game, Marrow made sure just two-minutes after Parkin’s goal. Mikael Mandron, who was reportedly a target of Hartlepool’s before we got him on loan from Sunderland, passed to the midfielder and his second spell on loan started with him scoring.

Hartlepool almost got one back when Andy Monkhouse rattled the crossbar from fully 30-yards but the reality was the Cod Army should’ve won by a greater margin but it was more than enough to get the points.

Good to be back on a winning run after the hiccups against Cheltenham and Morecambe, just got to at least keep ourselves in the mix and then what will be will be.

We’ll lose again at some point, but I’d like the run to go a little longer.

Cliched but if we can’t win, don’t lose, keep the run going as best we can, and when the next loss does come along, makes sure we bounce back at the first time of asking. All you can do really isn’t it. Amazed the league is still this tight, has to start splitting in the next month doesn’t it.

It’s amazingly close isn’t it, doesn’t seem that anyone wants to take the bull by the horns!
