Fleetwood’s first season in League 1 ended on a positive note with us going to Port Vale, who were already safe from any relegation worries, and coming away with a final day win on Sunday.

Two quick-fire first half goals were enough to secure us the win with a late goal conceded making little difference with us coming away from Vale Park with a two-one win.

It was a great start for us when Morris (17) volleyed home to put us into an early lead with the second coming less than 10-minutes later. Morris again played a part with his corner nodded down by Ball with Roberts (26) left with a tap in from a couple of yards.

Pope was Port Vale’s main threat with him heading over in the first half and then seeing a second half effort come back off the bar before the home side did get one back through O’Connor’s (90+4) deflected effort, but it wasn’t anymore than a consolation with us seeing out the two-one win.
