Chris Maxwell has returned to Fleetwood at the end of his loan spell with Cambridge United but the noises coming from the club are that they’re keen on keeping the Welsh goalkeeper for longer if a deal can be agreed.

Maxwell would benefit if he continued his career away from Highbury as he needs to play football, he’s not going to manage that at the moment though is he as Scott Davies in the undoubted number one for the Cod Army.

Behind Davies we’ve got the vastly experienced David Lucas, who Graham Alexander was able to use his previous Preston contract with to bring him in a year ago. At 36 he’s not got to many years in him but all the time he can double up as a player and goalkeeping coach he offers an acceptable deputy on the bench.

However it was this morning announced that Cambridge United have signed a goalkeeper though so this would put his chances of returning in doubt?
