Fleetwood Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the midweek that has been selected after the recent action.

The performance by Wes Burns in the two one victory over Gillingham in midweek at Highbury Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Burns was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Burns scored one and made another as Fleetwood triumphed 2-1 to put another dent in Gillingham’s automatic promotion hopes. The on-loan Bristol City man’s corner found its way in, before he crossed for Shola Ameobi to net his first in Fleetwood colours after just nine minutes.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Burns for his recognition, but the most important thing about the game was of course the win.
