Manager Graham Alexander has previewed the game against Northampton Town on Saturday and said that both teams will be fighting desperately for all three points.

Fleetwood will obviously be looking for a maximum return to get back to winning ways having failed to pick up all three points in our last three attempts, whereas Northampton sit bottom of the table and are fighting for their lives.

The potential futures of the clubs couldn’t be different, but one thing is for sure, a draw suits neither party so we should be able to expect some goal action.

Speaking to the Official Site our gaffer explained.

‘It will be a tough game, Northampton got a good win the other night, obviously they have a new manager in charge and they’re in a position where they are fighting for everything. They will come here and will be looking to get a result.’

Alexander says on balance he doesn’t feel their need is any greater than ours, it is simply a different need, so he has no concerns about our lads not being up for the match and they will certainly be aware of what a win would do for our own chances of promotion this season, so equally we’ll be going out looking for a result on home soil.

‘It’s important we get back to winning ways, which we had during January but we want to improve upon what we have done in the last couple of games. Our motivation is to make sure we get back into that top three as quick as possible and make sure we stay in there. that’s the target for us all and it’s a game we are looking to go and win.’

A win on Saturday could potentially lift us into second place depending on how Scunthorpe and Oxford go in their games, but having dropped points lately, a win would get us back on track and just stop any further slippage from us. Yes we are comfortable in the play off positions, but why look to extra games when you can put that effort in and have it guaranteed.
