Manager Graham Alexander has said that Fleetwood will do whatever it takes in order to gain three points against Portsmouth this weekend.

With the team now being unbeaten in our last four games following earlier hiccups we are now back within three points of the automatic promotion places, and with our aim being the title a win against Portsmouth is absolutely vital to our chances now with games running out.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game Alexander knows it will be a tough match despite their struggles this season, because they are heading into the game on the back of three clean sheets, and scoring has been an issue of ours in more recent times but he feels we can take confidence from the game earlier in the season.

‘Portsmouth are a good team, they have some good players and have got an experienced manager. We went down there, I thought we handled ourselves really well and I thought the players played fantastically well. We were composed, did the right things and we came away with a great three points.’

Alexander says that with the training we’ve had so far he feels the lads are more than up for the match and are definitely in the right frame of mind to build on recent results and get ourselves another three points, hence the ‘do whatever it takes’ statement.

He also has credit for the fans because he believes that when the opposition supporters turn up in good voice, they more than beat them in the vocal stakes and he’s hoping for exactly the same thing this weekend because of the difference it does help make to the team.

He does however realise that it’s up to them to give the fans something to shout about and that’s what we’ll be aiming to do.
