You almost sensed that if anyone was going to be the side that Walsall not only ended a goal drought against, but would also beat, it would be Fleetwood and sure enough a late goal condemned us to defeat on Saturday.

This late setback, in the one-nil defeat at the Bescot Stadium, was a major blow to our fading play-off aspirations.

We had chances through Proctor and Ball, who has been very much of form of late, but neither could take them in a game that was destined, or seemed destined, to end in a goal less draw….

That was until Bradshaw (86), who was just back from his latest hamstring strain, got onto the end of a Cain pass to convert his 17th goal of an injury impacted season to win if for Walsall and move them four-points clear of the relegation zone.

Defeat means that we’ve dropped further behind Chesterfield, in the sixth final play-off position, who now hold a five-point lead over us that we’ll be highly unlikely to overturn.
