Fleetwood Town have been awarded the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Team of the Round award following our Northern Area Semi Final victory over Rotherham United.

Fleetwood won the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Jeff Hughes and Conor McLaughlin, and it represented our fourth League One scalp of the season in the competition.

Winning the Award not only gives us a trophy, but £200 worth of vouchers to use on Johnstone’s Paint products for use on a project at the club, and Fleetwood have decided to use those on a community project looking at work on the concourse and corridors inside the main Parkside Stand.

Manager Graham Alexander said to the Official Site of the Award as he received it.

‘We are very proud of our run in this season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and honoured to win the latest Team of the Round award. The players have been terrific and to defeat four League 1 sides is a fantastic achievement.’

Alexander goes on to say that the Rotherham game was very tight indeed, so the club were delighted to have got through and everyone is excited about the challenge ahead in the Area Final against Chesterfield.

The first leg of the Area Final is at Highbury and will take place on Tuesday February 4th, and the second leg will take place in the week beginning February 17th.
