New signing, striker Jamie Proctor has said he jumped at the chance to join Fleetwood when he found out we had an interest in him, and he’s now looking forward to making a name for himself with us.

The 22 year old was our third signing of the summer when he was brought in by manager Graham Alexander the other week, and speaking to the Official Site he admitted it was now a fresh start for him, and a chance he wants to make the most of.

‘I’ve known about the interest for a few weeks now and as soon as I heard about it, I jumped at the chance. It’s a club on the up, everybody is ambitious and I think it will get the best out of me. I like the way the club is moving forward and I’m just glad to be part of it now.’

Proctor goes on to say that although it’s a new club for him, he does know a number of the faces within the camp and that goes for players and staff so he doesn’t believe he’ll have any trouble settling in whatsoever.

‘It feels like a fresh start, but with the bit of comfort of knowing some people from around the club. It feels like home.’

Proctor early potential did see him make the move to Swansea, but he couldn’t make the break through to their first team, and he obviously joined us as a free agent from Crawley Town, playing in 49 games for them, scoring seven times, and he admits that he was cheering us on in the play off final because he thinks its fantastic the progress we have made over the last decade, and now he’s focused on playing his own part in seeing that success continue.

He also had a glowing reference for our gaffer.

‘I know what he was like as a player and it came across now when I had a chat with him as a manager. He wants to win everything, there’s no standing still and he will get the best out of everyone. He was like that on the pitch the year I played with him. He’s full of encouragement, full of praise for everyone, but he won’t take it easy on you. He tries to improve everyone and it’s time for me to step up and have a season where everybody takes notice.’
