Chairman Andy Pilley has said today has been like a ‘dream’ for him when he looks at our most recent success and promotion to League One football next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the full time whistle and seeing the lads lift the Play Off Trophy, and emotional Pilley said.

‘It feels absolutely amazing, we’re elated, from the players to the staff to the supporters. I feel like I am going to wake up and pinch myself and see that this has been a good dream, because six promotions has been amazing and I’m not sure anybody else has done that in the history of English football.’

Pilley goes on to say that everybody associated with the club has now got to ‘savour’ this moment, let it wash over them, and enjoy it for all it’s worth, and then the job will begin as we look to survive next season, take stock of where we are, and look to kick on again.

‘We’re in with some monsters of football clubs, but we’ll give it a right good go.’

Manager Graham Alexander also added when talking to Sky.

‘It’s not sunk in and I think it will only sink in when we get the fixture list for League One. But we’re going up to improve and compete and take the next step. But we must not get too far ahead and we have to enjoy this moment because they don’t come around too often.’

Fleetwood skipper Mark Roberts was also collared following the game and he said.

‘It was an incredible moment, I’ve done it before at Old Trafford, but the last time I walked up those Wembley steps was as a losing captain, so it was an absolute pleasure. When I signed for this club I said to the chairman I would get them promoted. The chairman had a dream, he keeps breaking down barriers and will not take no for an answer. This is a great club to be playing for.’

Well done everyone once again.
