Fleetwood made a stunning start to the League 1 season but we’ve struggled at times recently, mainly due to our inability to score goals.

Chris Maxwell, fortunately, doesn’t concede too many of them though.

One win in the last nine games has seen us drop into midtable but we’re still only two points from the play off places and Maxwell is quoted on Sky Sports as saying that another promotion is still very much on and is what he’s aiming for.

The positivity around the club hasn’t changed from the moment the goalkeeper arrived and with us a club on the up he doesn’t feel that being in the mix for a place in the Championship is beyond us.

‘It’s a club on the up and it’s so close to us being in the mix for promotion again to the Championship.

‘We’re 12 games in and we’re certainly not down there scrapping for our lives. You look at our performances and they are performances of a team that’s in contention.

‘I’m very confident in our ability and as long as we keep doing the right things, which we have done, we’ll be very successful.’

We’ve been in just about all the games we’ve played this season, the defeats we’ve suffered have been narrow ones with our failure to convert some very presentable chances that come our way costing us at the moment.

Maxwell believes, and I think he’s right, that we’ll be giving someone a thrashing soon and that will make people take further notice of us as we’re very close to being ‘very good’ at this level.

If we can address our issues with scoring goals a seventh promotion in eleven seasons isn’t beyond our reach, we’ve always aimed high and we’re set up is as a club to be more than capable of dealing with the Championship with many of the players of sufficient ability to make that step up too.
