Fleetwood’s play-off bid suffered a setback on Saturday when inform Crewe continued their charge to safety with a fifth win in seven.

Crewe’s recent form probably made them the favourites for this one and a goal in either half proved the difference with them running out two-nil winners at Gresty Road.

Crewe ‘keeper Garratt was in top form as he kept our first half efforts from McAlinden and Ball to prevent us taking the lead before Ajose (42), who had been in tremendous form since his arrival on loan from Leeds, which has coincided with their improvement too, put them ahead just before the break.

Ajose was involved in the decisive second just before the hour when he crossed into Haber (59) who headed home to secure the points.
