Fleetwood’s League 1 season continued with a win against Coventry at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday.

A late winner saw Fleetwood upset promotion chasing Coventry with a two-one win secured.

Wes Burns had given Fleetwood a 56th-minutes lead but Marcus Tudgay got Coventry level on 75-minutes with the points looking likely to be shared until an 83rd-minute winner from David Ball to move the Cod Army two-points clear of the drop zone.

These were the other results.

Friday 26th February 2016

Saturday 27th February 2016
Blackpool 0-1 Bradford
Burton 0-0 Walsall
Colchester 0-0 Shrewsbury
Coventry 1-2 Fleetwood
Crewe 1-2 Barnsley
Doncaster 1-1 Millwall
Gillingham 1-2 Chesterfield
Peterborough 1-2 Swindon
Rochdale 2-0 Sheff Utd
Scunthorpe 1-1 Oldham
Wigan 3-0 Bury

The weekend fixtures began with Port Vale (three-one) collecting an impressive three-one win over Southend, who just early that week had beaten the League 1 leaders with Burton (nil-nil) themselves then held by promotion rivals Walsall.

Gillingham’s (two-one) bid is faltering at the moment with another defeat suffered against a Chesterfield side battling to stay up, which this three-points will certainly help with but it’s Wigan (three-nil) that continue a near relentless charge towards winning the title with the Latics’ stunning form after a rocky start seeing Bury brushed aside.

A Colchester (nil-nil) draw didn’t really do too much to help their fading chances of staying up, against a relegation rival Shrewsbury with Blackpool’s (one-nil) descent from the topflight towards the basement league still at risk with a defeat suffered at home to Bradford.

Fleetwood (two-one) picked up a big three-points at Coventry to help the Cod Army’s survival hopes whilst denting the Sky Blues’ promotion bid at the Ricoh Arena.
