A tense and dramatic 90 minutes today against Burton Albion has seen Fleetwood Town continue their rise up the Football pyramid and we will now have League One football in 2014-15.

Victory at Wembley earlier today capped a very memorable decade for the club as we secured our sixth promotion in the last ten years and you could tell what it meant to everybody with the celebrations at full time.

Not a bad way for Andy Pilley to spend his birthday eh!

There will no doubt be plenty more reaction to this from the gaffer and the players in the coming days as the champagne wears off, but speaking immediately after the game, manager Graham Alexander credited our success to the chairman and his ambition.

‘Everyone works hard for any success in football and it feels the same for players and managers. It’s down to the ambition of the chairman, who took over 11 years ago, and always believing we can smash through any glass ceiling put above us.’

Alexander goes on to joke that as the chairman was celebrating his 44th birthday today that the ‘trophy is enough of a present!’

Fantastic way to cap the season off after some disappointment at not quite making the automatic promotion spots, but it’s certainly a fabulous feeling to have gone up in the Play Off Final at Wembley.

Congratulations to all concerned…and I’m now off to toast the day with another wee tipple.
