Fleetwood’s run of away defeats continued on Saturday, for an hour though it looked certain that we’d not only end this but end Preston North End’s long unbeaten record at Deepdale on Graham Alexander’s return.

From 2-0 up though we went on to lose 3-2 in the end!

We made a dream start as Stephen Jordan, in just the first minute, headed home a corner from Steven Schumacher to put us ahead.

If that wasn’t enough just minutes later it was two! Antoni Sarcevic drove a cross into the Preston penalty area that Scott Laird could only turn into his own goal to give us breathing space with under 10 minutes played.

Preston showed that the game wasn’t over as former Premier League attacking Paul Gallagher threatened more than once to get his side back into the game but we got through to half time in a great position.

Half Time: Preston 0 Fleetwood 2

Nerves started to jangle on the hour with prolific marksman Joe Garner headed home Neil Kilkenny’s cross to half the deficit.

It only took another three-minutes and Preston had levelled it up with Garner heading home a John Welsh cross.

At that stage we would have happily taken a point but with 10 minutes to go Garner volleyed home to complete his second half hat trick and to complete the Preston comeback.

Full Time: Preston 3 Fleetwood 2

Defeat isn’t something that we should be surprised, or disappointed by, but to lose a two goal lead is.
