Fleetwood’s troubles away from Highbury continued as we suffered a fifth successive away defeat as we lost a lead at MK Dons on Tuesday in a 2-1 loss at the Stadium:MK.

MK Dons were in control for most the first half, a first half that failed to see us have a noteworthy effort as such.

Chris Maxwell turned away the best MK Dons effort saving well to keep out a curling Dean Bowditch’s shot as we got through to half time level.

Against the run of play we stunned the hosts early in the second half to go ahead. Conor McLaughlin’s long ball found David Ball who finished well, chipping a stranded MK Dons goalkeeper David Martin.

It wasn’t a lead that we held for long though as Ben Reeves set up Kyle McFadzean with the defender firing the home side level inside 10 minutes.

We would have been more than happy with a point but we were denied this late on when a Stephen Crainey foul on Samir Carruthers gave them a penalty. Benik Afobe kept his cool to calmly slot home and give them the win they deserved.

Not an unexpected outcome really, and probably the right result.

We needed to hold the lead that we managed to gain for a little longer and we might have caused an upset.
