It would have had a better ring to it, the title I mean, if it was ‘Brown leaves for Town’ but Tranmere aren’t a town they’re a Rovers.

In a surprise move, at least it came as a surprise to me, Junior Brown has been allowed to leave Fleetwood to sign for Tranmere on loan until the end of the season.

The League 1 side, currently battling relegation, have turned to the Cod Army winger as he ‘ticks all the boxes’ for caretaker manager John McMahon who hopes the 24 year old can help keep them in the division we’re trying to get into.

Players have ambitions to go higher and Brown wouldn’t have been any different but I’m a little surprised that Graham Alexander has allowed the winger to leave our promotion bid to aide their survival one but maybe they might be able to offer him regular starts that he hasn’t always been able to among his 31 appearances for us this season.

It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds but, unless it’s a loan that doesn’t work, I’m not sure I’d expect him back at Highbury again.
