With the Capital One Cup first round draw taking place earlier today, manager Graham Alexander has said he is pleased to have seen us get home advantage in the opening round.

We will host League Two side Hartlepool United in the week commencing August 10 and it will be our second fixture of the new 2015-16 campaign.

We last faced them back in January 2014, taking a two nil win with goals from Jon Parkin and Alex Marrow as we went on to secure League One promotion via the Play Offs, but they are of course now managed by former Tranmere Rovers gaffer Ronnie Moore so will likely be a different outfit after he helped guide them away from relegation last season.

Speaking to the Official Site after the draw was made, our gaffer explained.

‘I am happy we are home in the first round. It is good for the supporters. It is always exciting to find out who your opponent is going to be in the cup. It brings into focus that the new season is not far away. Hartlepool United finished last season strong and I am sure it will be very good game when we play them in August.’
