Manager Graham Alexander has said he was delighted to see Fleetwood Town return to winning ways when we faced Northampton Town yesterday.

The win came courtesy of two goals from Gareth Evans who gave us our first win in four attempts, and the three points were definitely required as we put ourselves back into within three points of table toppers Scunthorpe United.

Heading into Tuesday’s second leg final in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Chesterfield, and looking to come from behind, a total of five wins in our last eight and a reasonably comfortable victory over Northampton will at least see us go into the game with good belief and confidence that we can turn it around.

But more on that later.

Speaking to the Official Site after the victory, Alexander explained.

‘We scored two good goals and kept a clean sheet so I am happy. We deserved to win the game and we could have potentially scored a couple more. We are happy with Gareth Evans, he has come into the team and taken his chance, he played his position very well.’

Alexander goes on to say that it’s important that Fleetwood had maintained their belief and their focus with wins recently being hard to come by, but he always faith our form would return, it is just a fact you get spells like that in a season where you buy the win, but when you get one, you want it to be the start of a run, and that’s exactly what he’s hoping for now.

Turning around the JPT final would be the perfect way of doing that!
