Manager Graham Alexander has said it’s a case of all credit to the players following our three one victory over Doncaster Rovers.

Speaking to the Official Site following goals from Stephen Dobbie, Liam McAlinden and David Ball that saw us extend our unbeaten run in League One at home, a very happy manager said he felt it was one of our best showings so far this season.

‘The players were exceptional and we got the goals which our play deserved. We had that cutting edge and could have scored a couple more. Doncaster are a very good team and we had to make sure we dealt with their threats, and I thought we did that in large parts. Their deflected goal was a bit of a punch in the stomach but the players responded really well and played some good stuff.’

Alexander goes on to say that the attacking players on the day did a great job of stretching Doncaster’s defence, and especially with Dobbie it’s about getting him into those threatening positions and when he’s there he’d always back him to hurt the opposition and ask them a question and he thought they were three good goals from us.

Having gone in at half time with the one goal advantage, Alexander went on to say it was important that we were sensible in the second period and as well as trying to extend our advantage, we had to make sure we were tight at the back and in looking for the next goal we didn’t leave ourselves open to another sucker punch from them.

‘The players deserve this win because they haven’t stopped believing in the things we do on the training pitch, and have never let their heads get down.’

24 year old Ball was also in front of the cameras following his first goal since the opening day against Crewe, and he was obviously delighted to finally get himself a goal again because having been out of the team, he knew when his chance came he had to make it count.

‘It’s everything you want coming back into the team. We have been deserving of the three points in the past four or five games so just getting those points on the board is the most vital thing.
